AI in Manufacturing: AI-enabled Intelligent Manufacturing guidelines for SMEs

This workshop introduces an AI-enabled intelligent manufacturing transformation framework customized specifically for SMEs, combining an implementation strategy. This talk identifies common challenges in SMEs and provides an AI-enabled intelligent manufacturing implementation roadmap. Furthermore, the AI readiness assessment is also introduced, which helps corporate leaders understand their status and position in intelligent manufacturing. The talk also demonstrates several use cases in real practice.

Dr. Che-Wei Chou

is Assistant Professor in Department of Department of Industrial Engineering and Systems Management, Taiwan, R.O.C. He received the Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan in 2016. He also served as the CEO in Artificial Intelligence for Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (AIMS) Research Center, MOST, Taiwan.

He is responsible for coordinating and executing AIMS research teams and projects to build on Taiwan’s strength in manufacturing to update and transform industries, bridge partnerships between academia and industry for innovation and entrepreneurship, export AI solutions for intelligent manufacturing, and elevate Taiwan’s global visibility and influence in AI. His current research interests include intelligent manufacturing, decision analysis, big data analytics, and production planning & scheduling. Based on his industrial experience and research interest, his research is emphasis on manufacturing strategy that synchronizes with business viewpoint into manufacturing decisions.
